I recently took a small hiatus from my life here in the Sacramento region, more like Granite Bay (Hawks) to be exact, and spent two days in Las Vegas. I made it a point to dine in a restaurant that would be as high, if not higher, as Hawks Restaurant. My home away from home. I was lucky enough to come across Strip Steak in Mandalay Bay, a Michael Mina restaurant. Michael Mina is nationally recognized and holds a very high standard in the cuisine he puts out.
Dining here made me realize what is was that Granite Bay had,…….. a neighborhood gem, or a diamond in the rough, if you will. My dinner from start to finish was borderline perfect. I analyzed every detail I could and was blown away. Then I started to think how Hawks was practically the same in every way. From the technique and skill that is performed in all preparation of food, the precise wine menu selections, and the quality of service.
I may have a biased opinion because I work in the industry, but the knowledge I have gained by working here has created another world for me! The culinary world is not just food, it is art. And this art, in particular, is something that I can appreciate for everything that is it.
Hawks Restaurant may not be for everyone, but I challenge anyone who finds us less than stellar to work a day in our shoes. I guarantee they will find a new found appreciation for both service and food!!!
For those of you who are reading this, please keep in mind that this is just my personal opinion. I am not telling you what is right and what is wrong, I am simply jotting down my thoughts as if this were my public diary.

New Year’s resolutions are set in place beginning in January for a reason. That reason is such: Stuff your face during the entire month of December staring with Thanksgiving. Well, that’s what I tend to do anyhow!

If you are unaware of what “Sunday Supper” is, it is a four course, pre-set menu that is much more casual style dining that what you will find on our regular a la carte dinner menu. The price is $35/ guest with 25% off all bottle of purchased wine. If that is not a deal, I don’t know what it! Gourmet Comfort Food…….. HELLO?!?

Hawks gave to us………. a tasty Sunday Brunch menu with bottomless $12 Mimosas (The Mimosa part is the best of the two😀 )
On the Second Sunday of each month Hawks offers a three course menu that will knock your socks off. And besides the bottomless Mimosas, the second best part of brunch is that it’s only $25/ guest! HELLO!!! Where else are you going to find food of this quality and service standards anywhere else?!?
We have created a nice following to our Second Sunday brunch, but the more the merrier! We serve brunch from 10:30am-1:30pm.
Not in the mood for a Mimosa? We serve up a mean Bloody Mary as well! I keep coming back to the brunch cocktails…….hmmm……. Oh yes, the food is amazing as well!
Hawks gave to us……… a Hawks “Comso”. This very seasonal cocktail consists of house made cranberry sauce, Grey Goose Orange, fresh squeezed lime juice and triple sec. Orange zest to garnigh, taste buds to enjoy!
Apparently Zagat likes us! It may not be a perfect score, but hey,…… we’re not perfect! I am going to stop this blog post just at that, because this is the time of year where I should not have any extra time to be posting. But I do because YOU are worth it!🙂
Here at Hawks, we’re all about getting our produce and products in general from as local as possible. We like to support small local businesses because that’s what we are. “Do one to others as others do to you”.

Happy Post-Turkey Day! I am currently still full from last evening’s feast. The sight of food right now is less than appealing, however…….. I wanted to share the beautiful turkey that I prepared for my T-day. More importantly, I would like to thank Hawks for not only brining this amazing tasting bird, but also for the “on point” cooking instructions they sent me off with. Without Hawks, I know my turkey would have been average or below. The reason I work in the front of the house is because I am “culinary challenged”! With that said, my T-day dinner was a success!
